Recreational Zone “HeidelbergCement“

The project titled Recreation area “Heidelbergcement” has the primary goal of maintaining and improving biodiversity in the quarry Ribnica, through the reclamation of that part of the quarry that ceased to operate. It involves planting a portion of the quarry "Ribnica“ that is sized 1 ha. This is the first phase of the project.

The second phase of the project related to setting up the feeding and watering holes for wildlife and home to birds, in a zone of 500-800m of air line from the boundaries of the quarry, since the game became rare by the beginning of the quarry with work in the area of 200-300m.

The third phase of the project refers to the arrangement of recreation areas near the river Ribnica, at a sufficient distance from the works at the quarry (if it is technically possible).

In the period from April to September, members of the association Eko Kakanj together with engineers of forestry, agriculture and mechanics from the public company "Šumarija" Kakanj, and with members of hunting associations, "Srndać" Kakanj, who were partners in the project too, plan nine outings to the field (quarry "Ribnica"), and the design ideas will be discussed and analyzed there, together with the expert opinions.
