Quarry for education: young ecologists carry out research and inform about the nature of the quarry.

The Pechurki quarry is a quite good object for educational activities with schoolchildren. The quarry area combines various biotopes, so it is ideal for conducting practice course about various methods of study the environment for schoolchildren engaged in ecology classes.

The purpose of our project is to conduct practical training for schoolchildren on various methods of environmental research (ornithology, geobotany, hydrobiology, hydrochemistry, algology) and the development of informational and methodological materials about the nature of the quarry and the process of reclamation.

Using the observations obtained during the research schoolchildren will be able to write research projects and present them on competitions and conferences. Also they will create a Google site about the nature of the quarry and develop an excursion route around the main biotopes of the quarry. Teachers participating in the project will receive material for the development of educational tasks that can be used in classes of ecology and biology.

Many environmental studies have already been carried out since the beginning of the quarry reclamation of the quarry. To assess changes in the ecosystem regular long-term observations are neccesary.
Therefore, our research with schoolchildren will be important not
only from an educational point of view, but will also contribute to monitoring the quarry recovery process in several scientific fields at once.
